I want to eat Ringo Pie

 

Excitement has taken over my body since finishing my Ringo Pie quilt top this morning (thanks for the nudge Anna!).  I couldn't wait to share it with you, so here it is in all it's glory.

The blocks were made by:

Marit-stack of pots block

Erica- recipe box block

Anna- spatula, measuring cup, spoon block

Amber- red dot pot block and teacups on a shelf block

Corey- hand held blender

Amy- cake and cookie container block

Lucinda- spoon block and broom/rug block

Ayumi- toaster block

Lynne- espresso maker block

Kerry- baking scene block

and the rest were made by me.

Good morning!  It's a fine winter's day here at about 1 degree.  I'm so thankful our furnace is in working order!

 

Are any of you cross stitchers?  I had always thought I didn't like cross stitch.  Maybe because of the overabundance of really icky designs out there?  But then I started seeing the sweetest designs on IG by the frosted pumpkin stitchery and then came along this book:

 

 

The cover got me.  Sweet and simple designs.  (I ordered it here from the sweet Nobuko)

 

 

The very day I received the book, I did the wellie.  And this morning I did the strawberry (from a different book).

I'm seriously hooked.  But, it's really made me realize how bad my eyes are.  I have to pull my glasses down to the end of my nose so I can see what I'm doing.  Maybe a magnifier is in order?  But it would have to be one that clipped to my glasses because I need both hands free.  Anyone have any tips on where to find such a thing?

 

 

 

 

 

This is Leila's Ringo Pie block.  She asked for something that speaks of ourself and this block nails me to a board.  The pink linen was thrifted from a vintage tablecloth, the pitcher fabric was given to me by a dear friend, and the retro "kitchenalia" design is so me. 

It really feels good to get a tardy bee block done.

Hi-Lighters are cool

For Elizabeth's quilt in the Traveling Quilts bee, she sent along neon fabrics for each of us to work with.  Monica's addition is ingenious, and then Dan's addition is really cohesive, bringing it all together. 

It took me a bit to figure out what my addition would be and after waffling back and forth with whether to make my hi-lighters into a block or border, I decided to go with the hi-lighter block. 

The hi-lighter patterns will be available on sew-ichigo in a few weeks along with a couple of patterns by Kerry.  We're putting together a back to school set that will inspire!

I'll be there teaching a couple of paper piecing classes and in some of my free time, I'm going to take a class from Lotta, doing some textile printing.

Latte to Go

Happy Monday to you!  Did you all have a good weekend?

L-man and I had a really fun and productive weekend.  Saturday we spent the day on the river and I photographed him and a few friends kayaking a Class V section of the Poudre river called the Narrows.  It was a really fun day!

And then today, we did some clean-up stuff around the house which included clearing some dead trees off our land.  Boy I'm tired.

On Friday, Kerry and I got a couple of new patterns up on Sew-Ichigo.  My Latte to Go

Both these patterns are super simple and great for beginning paper piecers!

And just a bit more eye candy, here's what I'm working on for Elizabeth's quilt in the Traveling Quilts bee.

I've got your souvenir of friendship right here!

 

 

Goodness gracious am I having a ball with the travelling quilts bee. 

For April, I added to Monica's quilt start and I had such a blast thinking of ideas.  Her quilt "seed" started with the house block (and you can't see the house in the photo) and the embroidery that you see. 

Then Dan added some fantastic wandering geese he drafted up (sorry I didn't get that in the photo either, but you can visit the group photo pool to see his awesome addition!) 

And now my addition?

 

A play on Monica's heartfelt and sentimental embroidery. 

You all remember that saying on t-shirts back in the 80's or so that said, "my (family member) went to (California, Hawaii, Mexico, etc) and all I got was this stupid t-shirt!"

Remember?

Well Monica's quilt came all the way to Colorado and all she's getting is a (few pair of panties and) a stupid t-shirt!
