Could it be a match made in heaven? I bought this olive green wool skirt at the thrift store a couple months ago for another purpose, so really, this skirt has been REpurposed twice by me!! So here is the progression:
- said skirt partially seam ripped (I must have been too excited to get a proper before shot)
- seam ripped and pressed skirt with pattern, waiting to be pinned and cut. (I made this pattern by eyeballing other purses I like and the pattern pieces are made from some interfacing I bought at a garage sale)
- finished handbag with hand stitching and detail shots
I used a tutorial from the creative little daisy website to insert the zippered pocket in the lining. It's my first, I am so proud!!
Now, for the exciting news! Leave a comment on this post between now, Sept 7 and then, Sept 12th, and I will draw names and YOU, yes YOU, could win this handbag!

I just LOVE this handbag. I'm usually not the handbag-type, but this one is so nice that I could clearly imagine myself actually using it. This post is really inspirational, I need to bookmark it so that I can return here to make a similar one myself.

Saw your bag on Wardrobe Refashion and cruised on over to learn more. I love the style, and woo-hoo on the zippered pocket! If you see them, tell the handbag fairies that they are always welcome at my house! = } Deb

I love your bag! Way to go on making it out of recycled material and I'm really impressed that you just whipped up a pattern for it - I hope to get that good one day!

I really like the handbag, I was just thinking I have to start making some for myself because I carry a lot of heavy things in my purse and I wear them out all the time. Making them would give me more control of the material. I don't think I'm as talented as you at coming up with a pattern on my own though, but I could try.

Wow! I have added your blog to my Bloglines feeds. I saw your post on the Wardrobe Refashion blog was going to send you a message asking for help in recreating this pattern so I might make one of my own. I absolutely love it! Congratulations, a job well done!

Who would have ever guessed - what a professional looking fashion accessory (too pretty to call "bag")! No skirt will ever feel safe again! The REfashionator could be nearby.
Seriously, great design, love the lining and a zipper pocket is definitely a necessity that I would have been afraid to labor over! You pulled it all together beautifully! Marvelous!! - Glynis
